Personal Injury

Funding of your Claim

If you have taken out motor insurance, you may well have been offered legal expenses insurance to cover your legal costs should you wish to make a claim arising from a motor accident. Many of these policies limit your choice of solicitor, as most insurers have arrangements with solicitors for pursuing claims made using legal expenses insurance policies.

You may, however, choose the option of choosing and instructing your own solicitor. At Turner & Debenhams we are able to provide a personal service to you. Even in the event that you have existing legal expenses insurance, your first call following an accident should be to us, as our experts will provide you with a personal service and advise you fully on your rights and options. We will make contact with your legal expenses insurers to make sure that you receive the benefits of cover without any restriction on your choice of solicitors, where possible.

Many people are also unaware that they hold existing legal expenses insurance through other types of insurance policy such as home insurance, travel insurance, credit/charge card insurance and even under employee benefit schemes. On making your first call to us we will be able to advise you upon the accessibility of legal expenses insurance through your household or other insurance policy. If we can establish an entitlement on your behalf, then that facility will be used. On the other hand if you have no such insurance in place, we can advise you upon the availability of Conditional Fee Agreements to ensure that your claim can proceed on a “No Win, No Fee” basis.

If you have any initial questions about the availability of legal expenses insurance to you, or other questions about how a claim might be funded, please do not hesitate to contact us and request a call back.
